A popular South Indian sweet dish made from semolina is mainly prepared for breakfast or during festival feast.
It is known with several other names like Sooji Kesari, Sooji Halwa, Sheera or Semolina Kesari. Kesari Bhat has become the staple food with the working class who loves to have this in their tiffin.
- ½ cup Golden Bansi Kesari Rawa/Sooji
- 5-6 table spoon ghee
- 1 ½ cup sugar
- 2 cups milk
- A little saffaron (Kesar)
- Few cashew nuts and ½ table spoon of green cardamom powder
Directions
- Heat the ghee in a khadai and roast Golden Bansi Kesari Rawa till it turns light brown.
- Add milk, sugar and saffron. Cook over medium heat, keep stirring till the sugar dissolves and the mixture attains a halwa consistency. Add the cardamom powder and mix it well.
- Remove from heat and decorate Golden Bansi Kesari Halwa with cashew nuts and serve it hot.
